Fr. Angelo Sujeewa Pathirana SJ hails from Wattala (Western Province) Sri Lanka. He had his primary and secondary education at St. Anthony’s College, Wattala. After completing his novitiate and Juniorate formation in Sri Lanka, he had his undergraduate studies from 1995 to 1998 at St. Xavier’s College Mumbai (affiliated to the University of Mumbai), India and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. he did his philosophical studies at Prajna Pitha (Jesuit Philosophate) in Lewella, Kandy, Sri Lanka. During his two years of Regency, he was teaching at St. Aloysius College, Galle while serving the Jesuit Community as Minister. Fr. Pathirana was at the Gregorian University, Rome from 2002 to 2005 for his theological studies and after his ordination in November 2005, he served in a parish as assistant parish priest for a period of one year. Thereafter he was the Socius to the Novice Master from 2007-2010 while doing the promotion of vocations to the province. From 2010 to 2013 he was at Fordham University, New York, for a Master’s Program in Pastoral Counseling and Spirituality. After returning to the province, he did his Tertianship in Kandy, Sri Lanka and in 2014 he was appointed Novice Master. In August 2020 Fr. Pathirana was appointed Socius (Secretary) to the Provincial, and in February 2022 he was made the Provincial of Sri Lanka Province.
